Prairie mennonite church inner city evangelism

Reaching the heart of our country

blank"Be it known unto you all... that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole. This is the stone which was set at naught of you builders, which is become the head of the corner. Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved." (Act 4:10-12)

Your signature on the registration is your promise before God that you will comply to the following guidelines and to the verbal instructions of your director.  We expect your compliance to add to the effectiveness of our witness and safety of the weekend.  Curfew is an important issue since it affects our safety and the ability of our leader to get some sleep as well.

We are unashamedly a conservative Mennonite organization and as such a “Christlike” appearance is essential on the streets, in the motel…… at all times.

We would like to appear more like a chorus, and less like a carelessly assembled group; we are, after all, brothers and sisters in the Lord.  We have full support from our organization to implement the following guidelines.

We expect you as an individual to uphold your church guidelines at all times.

The weekend guidelines are as follows: guys are not to appear in casual dress such as Tee shirts or pullovers.  Shirts are to button all the way, and shall be lighter colored than trousers.  Cords or dress trousers are to be dark in color.  Denim blue jeans are no longer accepted because of too many difficult judgment calls for the director.  Black jeans are accepted, provided they look like dress wear.  Cargo pants are not allowed.  Hair should be decently cut, and without extremes in sideburns.  Neatness is required.  No lettering or slogans on clothing.

Modest appearance has been an important issue with God ever since the garden of Eden.  Girls are to wear modest cape dresses, as is becoming for residence of God’s Holy Spirit.  Denim jackets or hooded garments are not allowed.  Sandals or open toed footwear are also not permitted.  The traditional white European type veil is to be worn.

Musical instruments, TV, DVD’s, etc. have no place in our plans for the weekend.  Some card games are off limits.  Questions?  Just ask the director.  Personal use of cameras is restricted.  Pictures may be ordered from the appointed photographer.

If you enter into the spirit of things, we will not need a lengthy catalogue of do’s and don’ts.  Just because we didn’t think to address something, doesn’t make it permissible.  When in doubt ask.

We do not take your safety for granted.  Neither should you.  You will go into some of the most dangerous places in America.  May you have the grace of God to genuinely love all the people Jesus died for, with a response of wisdom and kindness in all kinds of circumstances. May you be wise as serpents and harmless as doves.  The souls saved could be theirs.  The life saved, could be your own.
